Dream Home Quick Review!

So I want to keep my blog updated so I am going to write quick reviews for movies. The first movie I am going to review is the 2010 Hong Kong thriller Dream Home.
*Some Spoilers*
Synopsis: Dream Home is a horror film about a woman named Cheng Li-Sheung who’s only dream is to own flat with a sea view. Her dreams were inspired by grandfather who was a sailor and a promise she made to her now departed mother. Cheng had been saving her money her whole life and when ready to buy her dream home her offer to buy the flat is denied. Having her dream crushed in front of her eyes was to much for Cheng. She snaps and goes on a killing spree in the complex she had dreamed of living in her whole life.

Review: Dream Home is a very different movie and is based on true events. It will keep you on the edge of your seat or hiding behind the covers. Like most slasher flicks there is a lot, and I mean a lot of gory scenes in it. I would not suggest it to anyone who cannot stomachic violence or blood, this film is very brutal. But the gory and the blood are not the main reason for this film. The film tells a story of a woman who will do anything to achieve her dream. The film also plays a social commentary on the US economy and how it affects the rest of the world. The films plays out differently than you would expect.
The main focus of the film is about a short two hour period where Cheng goes on a killing spree and the events that lead to it. The film is not shown chronologically though. Scenes are shown out of order to help build and tell the story. Dream home is also one of the most beautifully filmed movies I've seen come out of Hong Kong in a very long time, the cinematography is what really won me over with this film. So if you are a fan of foreign flicks, beautifully shot films and want to be on the edge of your seat or hiding behind the covers in the brutality. This is the film for you.
